We also made a delicious meal which included some fantastic wurst I picked up in my local grocery store before I left. There is nothing like a meal cooked over the fire....I can still taste the caramelized onions....mmm...
The next stop was a bit of
"research" for my next show, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE. All the characters are based on real people and are actually pretty accurate. My character, Almanzo Wilder, grew up in upstate New York. We visited this farm on our way to Canada. I'll make a more in depth post about this later. But, here is a picture of one of the barns. It was a BEAUTIFUL day!
And the final stop was in Montreal...oh me oui! We had so much fun in the city that I forgot to take many pictures :) I did manage to snap this one in the Old City section just before sunset. It was fascinating to be able to drive to another country who's official language is English but where everything is French. I know it is normal in Europe to jump from border to border and culture to culture so quickly. However, it is not so easy in America...unless you walk from neighborhood to neighborhood in NYC...then it's even quicker than Europe! haha
Wow, thank you for these beautyful pictures. It must have been a wonderful journey, thank you for sharing your impressions with us.
ReplyDeleteBut please, next time think about informing us BEFORE you take a vacation, so there will be no panic here in germany about you ;)
Kind regards and a nice day,
Marietta
Welcome back! :)
ReplyDeleteThe first photo – dreamlike and scenic. This is idyll pure and a place where you can let the soul dangle. You look into the distance and you feel simply good with nature around yourself! Great!!! :)
Camping is a quite wonderful thing! Although I prefer sleeping in a solid trailer instead of spending the night in a tent. I have slept in a tent once and was woken up by a pride of dogs that stood in front of the tent. A great experience, but not, if you aren't to see the owners far and wide! ;)
Thanks for the beautiful photos and the letter of your experiences there. It was surely a quite wonderful and recreative time.
And now you have the farm life every single day. Tomorrow you start with the rehearsals, or I`m mistaken?
There were the couple of free days exactly the right thing!
And for all of us it is well that you have finally written. We couldn`t abide Kristen`s impatience not any longer!!! ;)
soooo......here I am. I finally made my first comment on your blog!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these wonderful pictures...ooh, I was camping for so many times...it is so much FUN!It is a great feeling of freedom when there is nothing else around you but the nature!
Hope you enjoyed the time ant thanks for sharing these emotions with us!We are all very glad to see that you are fine...especially Kirsten ;)Now she has to call the police to tell them that you are back again :D

ReplyDeleteHey Kevin,
ReplyDeletesounds great :-)
I once had a camping holiday at the Baltic Sea- it all ended, when it started to rain for the whole week- our tents went swimming and some of them just flew away because of the storm *g*
it had only one good thing: I got my wind surfing licence.
In general it is great to feel the pure nature, the peace... no crowds... :-)
Franka
THERE YOU ARE!!! I´m glad you´re back! :-))
ReplyDeleteI wasn´t that impatient, really! :P
Just un petit peu! (I had friends from France here for a few days...hihi) I let the police already know you´re back.
Julsch and Mella you were as impatient as me but you wouldn´t take the initiative, so I had to do it! :P
Thank you for the beautiful pictures!
It´s good to see that you enjoyed yourself, the nature and Montreal.
Camping is fun! My husband and my two bigger sons are going to Skagen (Denmark) next week, doing a little camping trip. They want to see were North and Baltic Sea meet.
I like doing camping in Sweden, it´s a wonderful country, with all the lakes and the wide nature...( I sound like Anton..haha)
When my boys are gone I have to stay at home because Julia is coming to Hamburg to see Tarzan and she booked two nights at "Hotel Süchting". ;-)
We will have a loooooot of fun togehter!
So, good luck for the rehearsals!
Hope to hear from you soon. ;)
Kirsten*
P.S. This is the same comment as before, I accidently removed it, sorry! PC and me, two worlds...... ;)
Haha, I always hated camping :P Not that type of man... I like my bed!!! no, I LOVE it! But ur right, it looks very peaceful and timeless!
ReplyDeleteResearch labouring ;) U really get deep into ur characters minds.. thats definately admirable!! Not every singer/actor/performer gets so in touch with their work! Seems like ur an "all natural" (couldn't resist ^^)passionated artist. Bound to MUSIC! ;)
So, have a great week and we're awaiting ur next bloggggggging!
Chris
Julia, you have a great memory! Yes, tomorrow we start PRAIRIE rehearsals. And our souls were definitely "dangling" in that nature.
ReplyDeleteBOUND TO MUSIC...I like that quote Chris. Sounds like a title for a post to me!
Congrats on your first post, Mella, and your windsurfing license, Franka. I'm proud of you both! ;)
Enjoy the Hotel Suchtig...I don't know how to type an umlaut...sorry Kirsten. Oh, and I made the switch from a PC to a MAC as soon as I returned from my 1st trip to Germany this year. I LOVE IT and you will too!
I hope the panic has subsided, Marietta. Thank you for the good advice :)
Kevin
The hotel Süchting is wonderful - even better than camping!
ReplyDeleteExclusive wake-up-service with a following breakfast DELUXE!
Individual Room design - with Tv, stereo and PC in the room!
Generous bath!
Courteous room service and a really kind hostess!!!!!!
I can only recommend this accommodation! :)
And to the "Umlauten" - you can write for a
"ü" = ue
"ö" = oe
"ä" = ae!
So - "Hotel Suechting"! ;)
For tomorrow's start of your rehearsals I wish you all a lot of fun and a wonderful time. Exiting months surely become it for you all!! :)
Thank you so much Julschi, it´s always a pleasure to have you here!!!
ReplyDeleteBut you forgot to write about the lovely noice when the kids are argueing and the beautiful pictures on the bed.........;) Unfortunately, it isn´t that near to the Flora but we have a beautiful flora and fauna around here.
Hotel SuechtiNg :) also isn´t that much expensive, you just have to pay the owner half of a Tarzanticket......haha joke...
man man man Kristen!!!
ReplyDeletewake-up-service = kids, who are argueing
individual room design = the beautiful pictures on the bed
You Pappnose... You are dense! ;D
Oh, now I get it!
ReplyDeleteIt was too early this morning, sorry! ;)
But Julia, please watch your language on Sassy´s blog, you don´t want to get into trouble with the webmaster and ME! :P
If I use bad or wrong words, then I am sorry. I already take the biggest labor to express myself well and understandably. All this is due to three different translation sources! ;P
ReplyDeleteBut I think my last comment in form and content correct, Kristen!!!! :P
And for this I really can get no trouble? ;)
But I also have to say something to the real topic. Thoughts to the first picture...
"I sit there,
look out at the lake.
The infinite distance,
it fascinates me
everything seems so small suddenly,
everything seems so simple suddenly.
Gives me strength and courage.
I breathe in deeply,
inhale this air.
I close the eyes.
I hear the silence,
powerful and calming at the same time.
It is this feeling in me -
the feeling that I feel just there,
the feeling of bliss,
the feeling of liberty -
The feeling of pure happiness."
Good or good?! ;D
Ich bin ein kleiner Poet - perfect Poet!!! :D
wow, Julia. Well done! Are you sure you weren't there at the campsite too? :)
